Here is one thing that I have learned to be true: no web site starts out perfect. As it turns out, building the darn thing leads to more things to do, not less. One would think that (“one” meaning me) that once the idea has been had, the design built, the programming coded, that all there is left to do is let happy folks better their lives with your ingenious product. Ha. Or more to the point – Ha-HA!
There are more things to do now than at the beginning of the project. There are endless lists of to-dos that lurk on our desks, in our minds, on our Google Docs.
No doubt, you have probably thought of stuff we should do too. Good stuff that would make your bettered life even more better! Well, here are three items we are looking to check off our ever-loving to-do list. Let’s play the Match Game and see if we are thinking along the same lines… I’ll be Charles Nelson Reilly.
1. Print Option – We should have a way for people to print out these wishlist to take to a store somewhere. The main focus of this site was to make it easier for people to buy stuff online since that is what most of us do anyway, but there are still groups of hard-core store fans and they need to be accommodated too.
People can sort through your wishlist based on store and then print out that wishlist and take it to said store where they can feel free to touch, inspect, and compare items using most, if not all, of their five senses depending on store policy.
2. Make Title and Price editable – Of course you could always edit these fields in the pop-up window before you add it to your wishlist but what if you make a mistake??? Well, at first we figured you were perfect and would never do that. Now we know better. Not that you are not perfect, mind you. We still believe you to be perfect in every way except in this very isolated case. That your cat is probably responsible for.
3. Notes field – The way the internet works in most places is that even an item with variables like color and size has only one entry into a store and when you check out that’s when you make your choices on color and size. If we don’t give you a space to tell people you want a large purple eye-patch not a small green one, how are they supposed to know? Don’t know how we missed that one seeing as how we have been using the internet for months now.
Phew. I really hope I just covered all of your ideas; I am spent.
I didn’t? Leave a comment! Or email us from the site www.giftknow.com.
UPDATE!
We have completed #2 AND #3 already. How exciting! Just like Meatloaf says: “Two outta three ain’t bad”.
UPDATE DEUX!
#1 is now also done – just hit the print button and a printer-friendly wishlist will magically appear (out of your printer).
