Site update – Marking items as purchased

Posted on January 28, 2011 in: Site Updates

This way you don’t get twelve of the same thing

This is going to be a quick update because I am just not feeling as garrulous as I normally do. A long week full of twists and turns ending in a couple of beers will do that to you on a Friday night if you are no longer in college and happen to need sleep even more than you like it.

Anyway here is the short version of an even shorter story that led to our newest update…

Recently I had a giftknow wishlist user comment that she would like for us to make it possible for her friends and family to mark items as purchased without having to create an account. It seemed like a reasonable request so we implemented it. That’s how we roll around here.

I mean now is the time to get in on wishlists, people, and then email me your requests. You have an opportunity to shape the future here.

The option is on your Account Details page (which you can access by clicking on your name in the top right corner of the site). There is a checkbox that lets you decide if you are into letting your items be marked as purchased by those requiring no vetting process. Which is just an annoying way of saying that anyone with access to your wishlist could mark an item as purchased whether they did or not.

Happy Friday!

About cara

Who am I? Well, I would like to say I am the money behind this operation except I don't have any. And, I would like to say I am the brains behind this operation except I have a really smart programmer who built giftknow so that's out too. At this point I guess you could call me the schemer and gift finder.
